The "Quiz" screen

Make your content interactive and fun by creating a dynamic quiz screen in PlayPlay! This tutorial shows you how to pose a question, display multiple answer choices in a staggered sequence, and have the correct answer flash in color to reveal the result. It’s an ideal way to test knowledge, add energy to a training video, or engage your audience during internal communications.

Here is the step-by-step process for creating an interactive quiz screen:

Choosing a Screen Template

  • Open a project in PlayPlay and click "Add screen."
  • Search for and select an appropriate screen template (e.g., "Horizontal Split").

Setting Up the Question and Duration

  • Remove the default media if necessary to maintain a clean, simple background.
  • Enter your question in the main text field (e.g., "In what year was our company founded?").
  • Keep the background relatively simple to ensure the question and the options remain easy to read.
  • Extend the screen's duration on the timeline (e.g., to about 7 seconds) to give the audience enough time to read and think.

Adding and Arranging Answer Choices

  • In the "Elements" tab, add a text element and enter the first answer option (e.g., "1968").
  • Adjust the size, color, and position of this first answer.
  • Duplicate this element three times to create a total of 4 aligned options (e.g., "1968", "1972", "1976", "1980").
  • On the timeline, slightly offset the appearance of each answer choice so that they emerge one after another.

Revealing and Blinking the Correct Answer

  • Select the element corresponding to the correct answer (e.g., "1972") and duplicate it.
  • Offset the appearance of this copy on the timeline so that it displays at a later point (allowing the viewer time to think).
  • Change the color of this copy (e.g., to green) while keeping it in the same position.
  • Duplicate this copy several times and alternate the layers between the original color (purple) and the validation color (green) on the timeline to create a blinking effect.
  • Leave the very last layer in green until the end of the screen.

    Finalization
Preview the sequence to verify the timing for revealing the answer.
