Brush highlight effect
Highlight your keywords with a dynamic brush-style highlight effect on PlayPlay! This simple tutorial shows you how to overlay an animated graphic element to captivate your audience and instantly draw their eyes to a key idea, an impactful figure, or a call to action.
Here is the step-by-step process for creating a brush-style highlight:
1. Choosing the template and entering text
- Open a project on PlayPlay and click "Add screen."
- Search for and select the "Catch Line 9" template.
- Enter your message in the "Title" field of the side panel and insert a line break to isolate the keyword you want to highlight (e.g., "Your voice" on one line, "counts" on the next).
- Adjust the screen's total duration on the timeline if necessary.
2. Adding the highlight element - Go to the "Elements" tab, then the "Text" category.
- Select and add the "Brush Highlight" animation.
- Change the element's color (e.g., red or pink) to create strong contrast with the background.
3. Overlaying and adjusting - Position the highlight element directly over the keyword you want to emphasize.
- Resize and adjust its position so it perfectly frames the desired term.
4. Creating a rhythmic animation by duplicating - Open the screen's timeline.
- Duplicate the highlight element twice.
- Alternate the colors of these three layers: the first in red, the second matching the screen's background color (e.g., purple), and the third in red.
- Stagger the appearance of each layer by about 1 second on the timeline to create the animation sequence.
5. Finalizing - Check the preview to ensure the highlight animates correctly over the text.
- Continue editing your video.
