Text effect Glitch

Give your keywords a modern, high-impact look with a custom glitch effect on PlayPlay! This simple tutorial shows you how to stack and slightly offset colored text layers to create a vibrant, dynamic animation. It’s the perfect way to highlight a key term, add energy to an ad, or mark a transition.

Here is the step-by-step method for creating a text glitch effect:

1. Preparing the screen

  • Open a project on PlayPlay and click "Add screen."
  • Choose a simple template (e.g., the Media screen).
  • Delete the default media so that only the solid-color background remains.

2. Adding the main text

  • Go to the "Elements" tab, then the "Text" category.
  • Select a text style and add it to the screen.
  • Enter the desired word (e.g., "New").
  • Remove the text's background color (make the background transparent), adjust the word's size, and center it on the screen.

3. Layering the colored text

  • Duplicate the initial text.
  • Change the color of this copy and position it exactly over the original word.
  • Repeat this process several times using different colors (e.g., green, pink, blue, orange), stacking the text layers on top of one another each time.

4. Creating the glitch effect via offsetting

  • Open the detailed timeline for the screen.
  • Slightly offset the start time of each text layer relative to the others.
  • This tiny time offset in the timeline creates the vibrating, visual glitch effect.

5. Finalization

  • Preview the render to verify the visual impact.
  • Continue editing the rest of the video.
