Screen with a tailored background

Create dynamic and original team member introductions by combining a thematic background from the PlayPlay library with automatic portrait cutouts! This tutorial shows you how to place photos of people directly into the frames of an illustrated background—such as a comic-book style layout—and add text labels for a highly visual, custom result.

Follow these steps to create a presentation featuring people against a thematic background:

Choosing a screen and finding a thematic background

  • Open a project in PlayPlay and click "Add screen."

  • Select a simple template (e.g., "Title 1").

  • Click on the default media, then select "Replace" to open the library.

  • Go to the "Stock" tab, navigate to the "Videos" section, and search for a specific theme (e.g., "comic book background").

  • Select the desired background and add it to the screen.

Importing and Integrating Photos

  • Import the photos of the individuals to be featured from your computer.

  • In the "Elements" tab, click "Add Media" and insert the first photo.

  • Adjust the size and position of the portrait so that it fits within the frame provided by the background.

  • Use the "Remove Background" option to automatically cut out the subject of the photo.

  • Repeat this process for the second photo in the other frame.

Adjusting Timing on the Timeline

  • Open the detailed timeline for the screen.

  • Adjust the start time and duration for each portrait to create a gradual appearance.

Adding Text Labels

  • In the "Elements" tab, add text boxes to introduce each team member (name and job title).

  • Customize the style, color, and placement of the labels above each person.

Finalization

  • Preview the sequence to ensure everything looks cohesive, then continue with the rest of your video editing.
